Video Red Battery
Video Red Battery
Can you recommend an external monitor for a video camera?
I’m looking for a small portable video monitor that I can connect to my video camera.
I have the AV cable so I can view recordings from the camera to a TV set (Red/White/Yellow).
But I’d like something small (Less than 12”) that I move around (portable). Powered by battery and/or AC/DC.
Do any of the portable DVD players allow video/audio in?
Thanks for any and all help!
I've used a Sony portable DVD player with AV-in (this is the key) for a while.
They don't make my particular model any more, but the DVP-FX820 is comparable. Battery time when using the DVD is 6 hours; likely more if you are using it only as a monitor (but try to keep the backlight as low as possible, that uses a lot of power). It is small enough to fit in my gig camera gig bag.
I don't like that it does not have an easy way to mount to a tripod or a crane, but Bogen/Manfrotto makes a "tripod caddy" I am probably going to get...
You will also need to get some female-female RCA adapters to connect the camcorder's AV (RCA male) to the DVD player's AV-in (also RCA male). Radio Shack has them cheap.
